College Program Highlight – Siena College

A Siena College education is an education with soul. Located in Loudonville, New York–just 10 minutes from the state capital of Albany–the Siena experience is built for a new generation of leaders eager to create a more just, peaceful and humane world. It empowers them through a transformative journey of intellectual, spiritual and personal discovery.

At Siena, education isn’t something you get, it’s something you get to do. With 36 majors, 80-plus minors and certificates, and prestigious joint-degree programs in liberal arts, science and business, Saints have over 1,200 unique ways to reach their personal and professional goals. But that’s just the beginning.

Our 3,000 Saints engage personally with top scholars in a dynamic, customized learning environment. From internships to research to service, they get real world experience now, not later. The result: sought after graduates prepared to succeed in an ever-changing global society. Hundreds of student life options ranging from Red Cross to rugby join with Siena’s 22-sport Division I athletic program to provide students the opportunity to get in the game, whatever their interests may be.

Extensive study abroad programs and immersive service-learning allow for discovery and reflection. Saints are challenged ethically and morally to go beyond asking what and how to better understand why. They push outside their comfort zone to explore different perspectives and new possibilities, and work closely with their professors, taking advantage of state-of-the-art resources and one-on-one research opportunities in all fields.

A Siena education is strengthened through a robust internship program that includes top startup companies, nonprofits and government organizations that drive this region’s growth. Siena’s Franciscan, liberal arts tradition is our soul. Saints embrace the excluded and unite in service to the poor and marginalized. They lead by putting others first, thinking creatively and developing innovative solutions in pursuit of the greater good.

Siena’s Education for a Lifetime opens doors to enduring success and a passion for lifelong learning and doing. And it’s what connects Saints to Siena–and each other–forever. Saints succeed. Ninety percent of recent graduates are employed or continuing their education, and 86% percent say their job allows them to make a positive contribution to society.

Rugby is an inclusive club at Siena where there is always an opportunity to contribute. International coaches bring best – in – class training in strategy to ensure you reach your full potential.

Established in 1973, the Men’s Rugby Club has a history of success built on divisional, state, and regional victories. With a new pitch and increased budget, the team has their sights set on national recognition.

The Women’s Rugby Club offers women the chance to experience Rugby Tradition. The club meets multiple times throughout the week for practices with games on the weekends. The main season occurs in the fall, but the team is included in tournaments and games during our off-season in the spring.

Siena Rugby are actively recruiting students to play rugby and have a dedicated rugby coordinator to develop relationships with regional and national programs and mobilizes Siena’s Rugby Alumni Ambassador program.

Siena’s rugby alumni raised more than $350,000 for its state-of-the-art rugby pitch that opened in May 2016. The pitch is already gaining attention in regional rugby circles: in 2018 it hosted the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Regional Championships as well as rugby and football clinics hosted by New Zealander DJ Forbes and Haka Rugby Global.
